about

Most days I call myself Douglas Robertson, though in days gone by I’ve been known by various other nicknames. And for quite a while my first name was Trooper, Corporal and finally Sergeant. But, as I said, those are days gone by. So now I’m sticking with Douglas.

I’m a software developer by trade, and have worked with C, C++, Perl, Java, and now most recently, Ruby. Although I’ve done development in a variety of areas, most of the programming has been on web applications. I’m very interested in cryptography as well as development in the mobile phone space. On the server-side I’m a Linux guy and probably always will be. For the desktop I’m a KDE guy who converted to a Mac because running Linux on a laptop got to be too time consuming. I’m told however things are dramatically improving but it’s too late.

I’m also a scuba diver, snowboard instructor and instrument-rated private pilot.

It’s a wide range of knowledge, so there’s a good chance that some or all of the above will be covered at some point.
